About Us

MacAlister Elliott and Partners Limited (MEP), fisheries consultants, was founded in 1976 and has grown into a leading international fisheries development consultancy. The company is truly international, managing major projects in many parts of the world for clients including all the major funding agencies and many other notable public and private sector organisations.

A permanent staff of 12 work at the MEP Head Office in Lymington with between 25 and 50 employed on short and long-term contracts world-wide.

MEP is now the largest independent consultancy in Europe specialising in the management of the aquatic environment and has a specialist Environmental Projects Department - coastal zone management, fisheries and aquaculture projects have been implemented world wide.

Gowan is Chairman of MacAlister Elliott and a very keen sailor.

David Elliott

David Elliott, Managing Director, has managed fisheries projects in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and the Middle East for over 25 years.  In between times he can usually be found sailing, cycling or diving. 

Stephen Akester

Stephen Akester

Director of MEP now based back in Lymington after 3 years in Maldives but still manages to return there often enough to keep his bikes in very good order. Managing projects in Indian Ocean region, Yemen and Africa and now taken on the garden in Lymington as well as keeping his boat well exercised.

Tom Schlesinger

Tom Schlesinger

Tom tries to keep the MacAlister Elliott finances in order. Often seen disappearing into the Solent on his dinghy.

Margaret Marr

Margaret Marr

Secretary with MEP since 1988, enjoys swimming, cycling, walking in the New Forest and driving her MGF sports car.

Caroline Gregg

Caroline Gregg

Draws on her previous experience in international banking and politics to help the administration of the office run smoothly. 

 

Ed Willsteed

Ed Willsteed

Project officer of MEP with a background in marine biology and conservation. A keen surfer and freediver, Ed also finds time to manage projects in Europe, Yemen and beyond.

Colin Bower

Colin Bower is a Desk Officer on some of our long-term projects. Keen on family and local history, the photograph shows Colin presenting a project report to the St Barbe Museum in Lymington

Alba del Rio Poza

Alba del Rio Poza

Alba is the MEP Food Technologist.  Originally from Spain Alba has lived and worked in Central and South America as well as Mali, West Africa. 

Teresa Athayde

Teresa Athayde

Teresa is responsible for the publicity and tag recovery activities within the Indian Ocean Tuna Tagging Project in the Seychelles.  Born in Angola and raised in Portugal, Teresa has lived on the high seas, in the Azores, New Zealand, France, Ascension and the Falklands.  She loves the outdoors, dancing and cooking!

Mike Stockwell

Mike Stockwell

Mike is the project administrator managing MEP’s Indian Ocean Tuna Tagging team. Past lives include working as a paralegal and an advertising planner. He enjoys wake-boarding, squash, running and deals admirably with the burden of living in the Seychelles.

Angela Lowe

Angela Lowe

Angela, Desk Officer, is a post-graduate environmental scientist with field experience in Australia, South Africa and Bermuda.
