About Us

MacAlister Elliott and Partners Limited (MEP), fisheries consultants, was founded in 1976 and has grown into a leading international fisheries development consultancy. The company is truly international, managing major projects in many parts of the world for clients including all the major funding agencies and many other notable public and private sector organisations.

A permanent staff of 12 work at the MEP Head Office in Lymington with between 25 and 50 employed on short and long-term contracts world-wide.

MEP is now the largest independent consultancy in Europe specialising in the management of the aquatic environment and has a specialist Environmental Projects Department - coastal zone management, fisheries and aquaculture projects have been implemented world wide.

Managing Director - has managed fisheries projects in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and the Middle East for over 25 years.

Stephen Akester

Director - based in Lymington after 3 years in Maldives. Managing projects in Indian Ocean region, Yemen and Africa.

Tom Schlesinger

Finance Director and Company Secretary.

Teresa Athayde

Project Officer - based in the Seychelloes for the publicity and tag recovery activities within the Indian Ocean Tuna Tagging Project.

Colin Bower

Desk Officer on some of our long-term projects.

Dr Joanna Gascoigne

Fisheries Certification Manager.

Project Officer.

Caroline Gregg

Office and Project Administrator.

Charlie Kilgour

Project Officer - experience of working in Marine Biology and Ecology on islands in Shetland, Seychelles and on Lundy. Experience with MEP in Yemen and Oman.

Angela Lowe

Project Officer - is a post-graduate environmental scientist with field experience in Australia, South Africa and Bermuda. Angela spent a period of time as MEP's MSC Certification Manager.

Penny MacGregor

Office Secretary.

Alba del Rio Poza

Project Officer - lived and worked in Central and South America as well as Mali, West Africa. Managed international projects for MEP.

Mike Stockwell

Project Administrator - managing MEP’s Indian Ocean Tuna Tagging team.

Ed Willsteed

Project Officer - with a background in marine biology and conservation. Ed has managed projects in Europe, Yemen and Oman.
