The MEP fisheries team worked with Al Ayn Bay community members to find ways to maintain fish production as access to the waters off Ras Balhaf become more restricted, the team proposed the use of Fish Aggregation Devices (FAD’s) to collect pelagic fish in Al Ayn Bay away from the security zone. By agreement with the fishing community committees three FAD’s have been installed in a pilot evaluation phase, early indications are that they are already providing alternative fishing locations. MEP team members carrying out the FAD design and construction are Ali Naeem of the Maldives assisted by Ali Hameed and Adel Ghaleb , FAD deployment is supervised by Capt Roy Facey.
