MEP fisheries experts assessed the possible impacts that fishing activities are likely to have on cables and cable laying activities along an undersea cable route from Port Sudan south to the Gulf of Aden. The regions fishing activities were assessed and fishing techniques that posed a threat to undersea cables were identified and mapped. An MEP regional navigation expert also described likely threats caused by regional commercial shipping activities on undersea cables and cable laying activities in the region.
