MEP was commissioned to detail the fisheries in the Gulf of Lion and assess how they may impact an undersea cable system. An MEP fisheries expert catalogues all current fisheries, how they interact with the seabed and how these are expected to develop in the future. Regional fisheries management techniques and technological developments were considered and the risks were mapped according to their distribution within the Gulf. A regional specialist was also consulted.
