The project is one of six thematic studies forming part of the EU's Demonstration Programme on integrated management of coastal zones. The aim of the project is to assess the magnitude of the problems of an abundance of legal and regulatory dispositions and their lack of consistency within ICZM in the European Union. The work involved both desk studies, visits to demonstration areas and participation in meetings with project leaders and national experts to produce proposals for action to create a common legal and regulatory system for all the member states of the European Union with regard to ICZM.
