The Bay of Bengal programme for Artisanal Fisheries Development organised a conference to promote the use of sail in small scale fisheries. An MEP team designed and constructed appropriate sailing rigs, and measured their performance, with both instrumentation and by comparative sailing trials. The sailing rigs were demonstrated to conference delegates from many parts of the world and discussions held to assist delegates with drawing up plans for their own fisheries.
