MEP was part of a consortium reviewing sixteen of the Irish State regional ports and harbours by undertaking a financial and economic appraisal . MEP provided technical input on current levels of activity by commercial marine fishing boats, sea angling charter boats and salmon fishing boats, as well as providing information on options for the future of these ports/harbours for fishing activities. The outcome of the project was the development of a general strategic framework intended to maximise the financial sustainability and contribute to strategic maritime policy objectives and socio economic impacts in terms of direct and indirect employment potential of the ports and harbours.
