The Government of Madagascar Fisheries Department intended to use fishing vessels and gear to develop an artisanal fishery for the North Eastern coast. MEP conducted a survey of the existing subsistence fishery including markets and socio-economic factors, and proposed a phased introduction with newly established monitoring and management systems.
