Two MEP naval architects examined the existing Maldivian fleet of tuna collector vessels to evaluate the possibilities for refurbishment. In addition, four new refrigerated sea water collector vessels have been designed to replace vessels that are no longer sea-worthy. An international tender was prepared and evaluated and a contract awarded. MEP inspectors have supervised the building of the vessels and authorised payment stages.
