Malindi Rural Centre requested the upgrading of fishing craft design and construction. MEP designed two boats for local building. An MEP boat builder constructed a boatyard and trained management and staff, prototype craft were trialled and production lines set up. Artisanal and semi industrial fishing craft as well as transport vessels were constructed for operation in lakes and rivers.
