A pilot project in Karonga, at the North of Lake Malawi for the Fisheries Department, Malawi Government, to build six boats variously powered by outboard petrol engines, small inboard diesel engines, and appropriate sailing rigs. The boats were built in Karonga and their performance assessed in carefully monitored fishing trials conducted by the Fisheries Department and an MEP project manager.
