An MEP naval architect studied the fishing vessel requirements for Lakes Chilwa and Chiuta. Following evaluation of all possible boat building materials, a prototype for a 6 metre wooden planked boat was constructed for trials in the fishery. Long term plans for boatbuilding training were designed.
