An MEP director worked with the FAO Investment Centre to identify and prepare a project for World Bank investment in the fisheries sector. An MEP team visited all infrastructure identified for rehabilitation and assisted the Government of Malawi to finalise plans and priorities. An MEP team worked with the Investment Centre to prepare the project in detail. A major component of the project was the strengthening and reorganisation of the Fisheries Department to better manage the fish resources of the country for the future.
