A MEP fisheries specialist joined a multi-disciplinary team of port development specialists to upgrade the existing multiple-use ports of Khasab and Khumzar in the northern Musandam Peninsula. The fisheries component included (i) an analysis of the medium-term fisheries and aquaculture development potential of the area, (ii) the likely future structure of the fishing fleet and (iii) recommendations for appropriate land-based support infrastructure.
