The Government of Sierra Leone requested assistance to create a business plan for the country's national fishing company. An MEP team of project coordinator, fishing company operations specialist, vessel surveyor, refrigeration engineer and accountant, visited the Sierra Fishing Company to analyse its past performance. Based on an evaluation of available fish and shrimp resources and investment levels specified by the Government, a business plan was designed which specified investments required, alterations in manage-ent, and protection of the fishery from unlicensed fishing effort for the operation of a national fleet.
