MEP are providing technical support services for the implementation of a licensing system for the offshore waters of Somalia. These services include production of licensing documentation and fishing regulations, recommendations on appropriate levels of fishing effort, and operation of an air surveillance and on-board observer programme. MEP's technical office collects and analyses catch, effort and position data from all licensed vessels and produces a regular statistical bulletin for the country's leaders and interested international organisations.
