MEP were appointed by Racal-Thorn Wells to assist in the design of LOCATOR, the marine resource management system which aids fleet management, fisheries monitoring and EEZ surveillance operations. MEP provided technical fisheries advice on the tracking of fishing vessels and of data collection requirements. Using satellite positioning techniques and e-mail, LOCATOR can precisely and concurrently track up to 500 vessels from an onshore work-station as well as remotely interrogate the vessels.
