A detailed survey was carried out throughout the UK to examine factors affecting buying decisions for fish products, distribution channels, perceived and actual differences between wild and farmed product, and trends in the market for fish products. Particular emphasis was placed on researching the current and potential sales of farmed bass and bream from the Mediterranean. Sectors interviewed through face-to-face interviews included: wholesalers/importers; processors; brokers; multiple retailers, independent retailers; mobile sellers; institutional/contract caterers; and restaurants. Recommendations were made for promotional strategies to realise the potential sales of bass and bream in the UK.
