MEP has been retained by Scottish Borders Enterprise to carry out a study on the Borders meat industry. The aim is to improve returns to the primary producers and processors and to secure employment in the area. The team will investigate infrastructure for local slaughtering and processing, product development and value added, branded products, direct and specialised marketing, and addition of other branded products (game, salmon, etc.).
