MEP was the main technical adviser to compensatory bodies on all issues relating to fisheries and aquaculture following a spill of 84,000 tonnes of crude oil in the waters surrounding the Shetland Islands. Detailed assessments were undertaken on the financial impact to fish farms, fishing vessels and processing operations that were impacted by the spill and the subsequent fisheries exclusion zone.
