MEP was involved in the development of product specifications for Indian Ocean Species based on the market requirements and was also involved in the introduction of improved quality control procedures for on-board processing. MEP experts identified species of commercial significance available and found European markets which could potentially accept these fish species. The requirements of European primary importers of fish were evaluated in terms of pack size, quality grading, tolerances, packaging and labelling.
