Review of the current coastal zone management legislation in Georgia to comply with the latest best practice. This included: assessment of the laws of Georgia relevant to coastal zone management involving constitutional control, environmental protection, nature conservation, water resources, forestry, fisheries, minerals, maritime zones and shipping; assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of current Georgian laws and advice on implementation and enforcement of current laws; a comparative assessment of coastal zone laws in three other jurisdictions with differing approaches to coastal zone legislation with identification of the implications of these differences for Georgia; and recommendations on the need for new or amended legislation and procedures.
