Assistance and Management of Tour of West African Fish Exporters around Europe

MEP organised a study tour for a delegation of Gambian fishing companies assisted by a Gambian Fisheries Department representative in UK, Belgium and Holland. The main aim of the tour was to provide future strategies for the delegation to find importers interested in their products (African sole, shrimps, cuttlefish etc...) and to find business contacts for future purchase of new or second hand multipurpose trawlers. MEP identified suitable companies for the representatives to visit based on their current production and future strategic plans. The Group visited producers, processors and retailers in the three European countries and in some cases formed long term trading partnerships.
