SEA-ME-WE 4 cable project

ALCATEL planned to route a communications cable through the coastal waters of Yemen and commissioned MEP to advise on the route the cable should take to minimise potential impacts with the fishery and to negotiate terms and access agreements with the Government of Yemen. MEP fisheries scientists evaluated the proposed route and identified potential conflicts from knowledge of the fisheries; alternative route options were proposed and agreed on. MEP national partners negotiated access rights for the cable laying vessel, participation by Yemeni concerned government Ministries in the cable laying process and completion of all license arrangements.
