Project Summary: Seabass/Bream Marketing Study
MEP were contracted to complete a marketing study in consideration of the US market for European bass and bream.
The main aim of the study was to provide an understanding of both the current market in the United States (in terms of volume, product type, prices and supply chains) and the future predicted trends in the short and longer term, in order to satisfy increasing demand for Mediterranean species (mainly bass and bream) to the US and Americas markets (including Canada and other South American countries). Work was both desk based but also included a brief field visit to the US.
It was determined that the US market is continuing to grow for Mediterranean bass, in particular with a strong following in high end supermarkets and restaurants. This is likely to continue to grow albeit at suppressed levels and with likely price decreased in the near future.
