Aquaponics
Aquaponics is a system in which vegetables, fruit or herbs are grown in symbiosis with fish. The plants feed on the waste produced by the fish and also maintain a high level of water quality (which is required for the fish to grow).
Aquaponics development has been occurring around the world with a large growth in the USA and Europe. It is in the Middle East though that the greatest potential is seen with the region suffering from highly limited freshwater resource.
Aquaponics is a system which has proven very popular with hobbyists. This in turn though has led to a number of failures on the commercial level, where people presume the same techniques and processes, which they have used at a small scale will work at the large commercial level.
