Managing Marine Resources Through Spatial Planning in Kiribati

MEP are pleased to announce the start of an exciting new project for the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources in Kiribati. A successful inception meeting was held on Tarawa Island, Kiribati, on establishing a marine spatial plan for the island.

This project is one of three marine resources projects MEP is currently working on in Kiribati, under the World Bank funded PROP project. The project team, project managed by Sarah Yates, met with members of MFMRD and Aquarius Survey & Mapping (Neil Golding). Funding for the project is provided by the World Bank through PROP project.

The project aims to establish a marine spatial plan for Tarawa, indicating a focus on organizing and managing marine resources and activities in the region.
