Tracy Murai Joins Macalister Elliott and Partners as Technical Director

Today we proudly welcome Tracy Murai as our new Technical Director today. Tracy brings over two decades of experience in fisheries, aquaculture, and sustainable food supply chains to MEP, further strengthening the firm’s commitment to promoting responsible practices in the industry.

Previously serving as Assistant Director for Global Fisheries Sustainability at Thai Union Group, one of the world’s largest seafood company, Tracy played a key role driving improvements in their supply chains and building partnerships with NGOs, governments, and fishing companies worldwide. Through their industry leading SeaChange© strategy, her tenure at Thai Union saw the implementation of transformative initiatives such as the Fisher Work and Welfare Program and the Tuna Commitment, solidifying the company’s position at the forefront of sustainable seafood. Tracy started working for the Group in 2017 after being inspired by their progress on sustainability through a corporate partnership (2014-2018) which she managed whilst in the position of WWF-UK’s Seafood Manager.

Reflecting on her transition to MEP, Tracy states, “I’ve felt passionate about the ocean since I can remember, and my dedication to working with fishing and farming communities, alongside businesses committed to positive change, has only deepened over the years. Joining MEP presents an opportunity to amalgamate my diverse experiences and contribute to driving meaningful progress in fisheries and aquaculture.”

Frank Van Der Velden, EMEA Head for Peterson Projects and Solutions – the parent company of MEP – expressed his delight at Murai’s appointment, saying, “We are thrilled to welcome Tracy to the MEP family.
